Conference of conservator-restorers 2025 in Olomouc

The Methodological Centre for Conservation of the Technical Museum in Brno (MCC TMB) in cooperation with the Commission of Conservators-Restorers of the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries, Olomouc Museum of Art and Palacký University Olomouc, Faculty of Education cordially invite you to the 33rd annual Conference of Conservators-Restorers. The conference is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries, the Czech ICOM Committee and other partners.

AIM OF THE CONFERENCE
The conference aims to present new trends and examples of good practice in the care of cultural heritage. It will present the results of research on historical materials, new methods and means for the treatment and long-term preservation of movable and immovable cultural heritage objects, as well as case studies of conservation and restoration interventions. Attention will also be paid to the care of collection objects, archival materials and other monuments at risk in case of crisis situations such as flood, fire or war conflict. Ethical issues of the profession of conservation and restoration in relation to museum practice will also be discussed. The conference will offer lectures and poster presentations followed by discussion. The programme will also include a professional excursion to Olomouc museums and a visit to local places of interest. The conference will also include a plenary meeting of the Commission of Conservators-Restorationists of the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries.

CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS
The conference is intended for conservators-restorers of memory institutions (museums, galleries, libraries, archives, etc.), private restorers, teachers and students of restoration schools, preservationist, naturalists and experts of other related professions. The registration form will be activated in March 2024.

INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS AND SPEAKERS
Peer-reviewed papers can be submitted no later than 31 March 2025, informative papers and posters by 10 June 2025 by sending the text of the paper to fricova@tmbrno.cz and filling in the e-form on the TMB MCK website. Papers and poster abstracts approved by the Editorial Board will be published in the Forum for Conservators-Restorers (FCR) journal. Instructions for authors of papers can be found on the FCR journal website. If you wish to present a paper at the conference without publication, please fill in the e-form only.

INFORMATION FOR POSTER AUTHORS
The ideal format for printing poster presentations is A0. Posters will be attached to panels with double-sided adhesive tape. Since many participants have expressed interest in publishing their poster presentations on the conference website, we would like to try using QR codes for this purpose. We would appreciate it if authors could provide their posters with a QR code containing the panel content. You can use QR code generators such as QRCode Chimp, MEQR, or QRGenerator.

All members of the Conservator-Restorers Commission of the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries, as well as those who were unable to register in time, will be allowed to attend the plenary session on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
