DATE October 21, 2026
VENUE Slup Watermill, Slup Municipal Office Hall
SEMINAR TOPIC
Fire protection for wooden roof structures is one of the key areas of preventive maintenance for historic wooden buildings. Given the long-term development and practical application of existing fire protection measures and systems, it is possible to objectively evaluate their effectiveness and share experiences from specific situations. This year’s “Monuments in Flames” seminar will take place in the authentic setting of the Water Mill in Slup, a national cultural monument administered by the Technical Museum in Brno. Seminar participants will be introduced on-site to the new security and fire protection concept for this building, including a guided tour. The program will also include a working meeting of members of the Commission for Museum Safety of the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries, to which other seminar participants are also cordially invited. The seminar is primarily intended for museum staff, heritage conservationists, and specialists involved in fire protection.
PROGRAM
As part of the seminar’s specialized program, we would like to share experiences and explore new possibilities in fire protection technologies for historic wooden buildings, primarily through group discussions. The specialized program remains open to those interested in actively participating and will be updated as needed.
