The Methodological Centre for Conservation of the Technical Museum in Brno in cooperation with the Restoration Workshop of the Mining University – Technical University of Ostrava and the Commission of Conservator-Restorers, Working Group Metals, Czech Association of Museums and Galleries would like to invite you to the professional seminar Operation and Maintenance of Technical Monuments: Modern Methods and History II.

     

AIM OF THE SEMINAR
The seminar builds on previous editions focused mainly on the issue of professional care of historic vehicles from the perspective of museum curators, private collectors and conservator-restorers. This year’s seminar theme has been expanded to include other representatives of technical collections and monuments such as steam and water engines, building structures or aviation technology, etc. The intention is to discuss approaches to the presentation, preservation and restoration of these important documents of the development of human society, taking into account knowledge of the historical context of their production and use, respect for authenticity and originality, as well as the application of modern methods in museum and restoration practice. The programme of the seminar will include expert contributions, complemented by a tour of the reopened permanent exhibition of steam engines of the Technical Museum in Brno and a demonstration of selected collection items.

SEMINAR PARTICIPANTS
The seminar is intended for professionals working in heritage institutions such as museums, galleries and other heritage care organisations, such as curators, conservationists and conservator-restorers. It is also a suitable platform for private collectors and restorers, teachers and students of restoration and other professional schools.

REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION FEES
Those interested in participating with a presentation can register via the registration form on the MCC website by 30 June 2025 at the latest.
Those interested in the seminar can register via the registration form on the MCK website by 31 August 2025. The seminar is limited to the capacity of the lecture hall (max. 90 people). The participation fee of CZK 600 covers the costs of organizing and hosting the conference. An invoice will be issued based on the billing information provided in the registration form and sent to your e-mail address.
