The Technical Museum in Brno and the TMB Methodological Centre for Conservation, in cooperation with the Restoration Workshop of the VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava and the Commission of Conservators and Restorers, Metals Working Group, the Czech Association of Museums and Galleries, cordially invite you to the conference “Operation and Maintenance of Technical Monuments: Technology in Museums.”
This professional conference is the outcome of the NAKI III consortium project H23P03OVV041 “PUTM: The contribution of applied arts and technical museums to the economic development and educational culture of Moravia and Czech Silesia: foundations – situation – perspectives,” funded by the Ministry of Culture and led by the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno, the Technical Museum in Brno, and the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology.
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE
The main objective is to foster a broader professional discussion on the preservation of technical heritage and collections of technology and industry, with a special focus on historic vehicles. The conference will address issues related to the preservation of technical collections in museums, particularly the conservation and restoration of technical artifacts, taking into account the historical context of their production and use, respect for authenticity and originality, as well as the application of modern methods and approaches in museum and restoration practice. Attention will be given to the emerging database and interactive map of technical collections in Moravia and Silesia (the applied results of the ongoing TMB research project), as well as their design and use. The aim of the meeting is to share knowledge not only about history but also to facilitate the mutual exchange of experiences regarding the practical application of modern concepts and technologies among museum curators, conservator-restorers, researchers, and other specialists, including private collectors.
CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS
The conference is primarily intended for professionals and conservator-restorers at memory institutions such as museums, galleries, and other heritage preservation organizations, as well as private restorers, educators and students at restoration schools, heritage preservationists, and experts in other related professions.

If you are interested in attending the conference, please register using the registration form on the MCC website no later than October 30, 2026. The number of participants is limited by the capacity of the lecture hall (max. 90 people). The participation fee of 600 CZK covers the costs of organizing and hosting the conference. An invoice will be issued based on the billing information you provide in the registration form and sent to your email address.
