We are pleased to share an invitation to the workshop THE ART OF PAPER RESCUE – for employees of cultural institutions, of colleagues from the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové.

DESCRIPTION AND GOAL OF THE WORKSHOP
- During the workshop, you will learn the correct procedures for working with damaged paper documents. You will learn how to properly clean them of dust, adhesive tape, and other contaminants. You will try your hand at retouching small tears and reinforcing weakened and missing areas on documents. Part of the workshop will also be devoted to the basic principles of preventive protection—how to properly disinfect and store documents.
- You will not only gain new skills, but also a better understanding of how paper ages and how sensitive care can help extend its life.
- The workshop also includes a short lecture on the restoration of paper documents.
- The workshop is intended for employees of cultural institutions and archives, as well as those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the restoration of paper documents.
SPEAKER
BcA. Romana Tošovská, Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové
- She graduated from the Institute of Restoration and Conservation Techniques in Litomyšl, specializing in the restoration and conservation of paper, book bindings, and documents.
- She is a restorer of paper, book bindings, and documents with 24 years of experience in various restoration institutions (East Bohemian Museum in Pardubice, Museum of Puppetry Cultures in Chrudim, Museum of the City of Prague, National Library of the Czech Republic). She holds restoration licenses granted by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
- She has experience in restoring old prints and manuscripts, as well as rare parchment documents bearing wax seals.
