On 16 January 2025, the academic painter, chemist, writer, teacher, scientist and chief inspector and chief restorer of the Swedish Royal Collections František Makeš died in Stockholm at the age of 93. For his life’s work, he received the highest honour from the King of Sweden for the preservation of Europe’s cultural heritage.
