Preventive conservation Course 2024

On 22-24 October and 28 November 2024, another year of the Preventive conservation Course took place at the Methodological centre for Conservation of the Technical museum in Brno. The participants of the course gained an overview of the identification and assessment of degradation factors acting on collection objects during three days of intensive teaching, which included both theoretical and practical parts. They learned how to monitor and evaluate the internal museum environment in terms of the effects of temperature, relative humidity, light, pollutants, biological damage, and hazards in emergency and crisis situations. The course also included a home project to evaluate the microclimatic conditions in the home institution using a loaned set of measuring and testing tools.

This year’s course was attended by a total of 16 colleagues from the ranks of curators, depository managers, conservator-restorers and other museum staff. They completed the course after successfully completing the test and presenting their home project. We thank all participants for the pleasant atmosphere that prevailed all four days and we look forward to the next edition!
