Workshop Operation and Maintenance of Technical Monuments: Modern methods and history
Within the framework of the European Days of Conservation-Restoration , the Methodological Centre of Conservation of the Technical Museum in Brno, in cooperation with the Restoration Workshop of the Technical University Ostrava and the Commission of Conservators-Restorers of Czech Association of Museums and Galleries, organized a seminar Operation and Maintenance of Technical Monuments: Modern methods and history.
The rich programme of the two-day seminar offered not only presentations on the care of historic cars and motorcycles in museum collections in the Czech Republic and abroad, but also stimulating discussions on research and specific approaches to the restoration of technical monuments. The participants of the seminar got acquainted, for example, with the research of historical vehicles on the basis of archival sources, material research of the Wikov 35 limousine, production of spare parts using the investment metal casting method, and equally interesting was also the joint discussion at the Kroboth Favorit car, which the Technical Museum in Brno acquired for the collection in a found condition.
The programme also included a presentation on laser cleaning in the conservation of parts of historic vehicles, which you can see in a short video.
