The reference library in the methodological centre of conservation comes under the library of the Technical Museum in Brno. There is collected a wide range of subject literature of Czech and foreign origin. The books can be loaned by prior arrangement as non-circulating items.
CZ/EN and EN/CZ dictionary for the subject conservation-restoration
Currently, the methodological centre of conservation in the Technical Museum in Brno is preparing a Czech-English and English-Czech dictionary of specialized terminology for the subject museology, collection protection and conservation-restoration. The dictionary is recently available online as well and it is continuously completed with other terms from the subject conservation-restoration. This database is being created within the translating of texts for the methodological centre of conservation in the Technical Museum in Brno. Thanks to this fact the expressions are always consulted with experts.
Let us add that concerning the subject conservation, restoration, there is a Czech version of an English norm EN 15898:2011 (ČSN EN 15898) which contains some important basic terms of this subject. Further, there is the publication Základní muzeologické pojmy (“Basic museological terms”), published by the Technical Museum in Brno in 2011. This publication defines 21 basic museological terms and their equivalents in several European languages.
